Unfortunately my painting of ‘The Late Mrs Grindley’s Garden’ was ‘shortlisted but not hung’ by the Royal Academy which was for me a close call – better luck next year I suppose! However we did have a very enjoyable day out in London visiting the Monet Exhibition at the National Gallery. It is really interesting to see how Monet captures light and a sense of place in his pictures, for example painting the same scene at different times of the day and thereby creating different moods. One of my all time favourite artists.
Looking forward now to following the Bridgnorth Open Art Trail this weekend 9th and 10th June. The Arts Trail runs through the historic streets of Bridgnorth and includes the many works of local artists in a variety of settings, including some of Bridgnorth’s oldest and most beautiful buildings. Maybe catch you there!
