I am very fortunate to live in the historic market town of Bridgnorth that lies on the River Severn. The town is surrounded by beautiful Shropshire countryside which I can easily access and therefore draw inspiration from.
I also enjoy travelling around the British Isles and immersing myself in the wide variety of scenery that is available to all of us.
My art practice is informed by my daily countryside walks. These meditative walks in nature provide inspiration and are translated into a collection of words – a haiku – which I then interpret in a visual sense. The images are firstly laid down as ideas in my sketch book which are then expressed within my textile work or in painted form.
My aim is to capture through my work a sense of being that represents a time and space where, in that instance, I felt at one with nature.
